Well all the votes are in and according to data from the Department of Transportation the Worst On-time Airline is...... The Envelope please (drumroll) American Airlines takes the prize of the worst on-time carrier.American placed 19th out of 19 carriers with a 69.8% on-time rating. AA subsidiary American Eagle also placed low, ranking 16th with a 72.9% rating. In between were Delta subsidiary Comair (No. 18, 69.9%) and United (No. 17, 71.6%).
I have attached for your review the list that was published by the Dept of Transportation, of course this list has the best Airlines up top and American the worst is at the bottom.
1. Hawaiian Airlines (90% on-time rating for the full-year 2008)
2. Southwest (80.5%)
3. US Airways (80.1%)
4. Northwest affiliate Pinnacle (79.6%)
5. Frontier (79%)
6. United, Delta and Midwest affiliate Skywest (79%)
7. Alaska Air (78.3%)
8. Northwest (76.8%)
9. AirTran (76.7%)
10. Delta (76.4%)
11. Delta affiliate Atlantic Southeast (74.2%)
12. Continental (74%)
13 Continental, Delta affiliate ExpressJet, including some stand-alone operations (73.6%)
14. United, US Airways and Delta affiliate Mesa, including some stand-alone operations (73%)
15. JetBlue (72.9%)
16. American subsidiary American Eagle (72.9%)
17. United (71.6%)
18. Delta subsidiary Comair (69.9%)
19. American (69.8%)
